Q: What should I do to prevent sunspots? And if I have a few already, how do I prevent them from getting worse? What kind of SPF should I be using?
A: Everyone is concerned about how their skin looks, especially on their face.
We used to think that wrinkles were the most important sign of aging and sun damage, but recently it was shown in a scientific study that it's the state of your skin that actually is the most important. It's the state of your skin that's the most important element in determining "beauty".
One of the biggest problems with the skin is brown sunspots. (Some people call them age spots, freckles, and/or liver spots.) Their technical name is lentigos, but whatever you call them they are really from the sun.
The most noticeable place for people to have these discolorations is where they get the most sun exposure -- on their hands or faces and upper chest. With modern technology it is easy to treat them. At our office we use a light source called IPL to treat a lot of spots or we use a YAG laser to treat individual brown spots. It often requires 2-4 visits but the result is dramatically positive.
The lasers are the most effective treatment, but there are also products that can help you lighten the dark spots without having to go to a dermatologist.
Whatever treatment you select, keep in mind that sunspots can come back...
Sometimes in the same location.
To prevent aging discolorations, here are a few tips:
- Don't go out in the sun without putting on your sunscreen. I recommend an SPF of 30 or more.
- Use a sunscreen gel if you have oily skin and a cream or lotion if you have normal to dry skin.
- Don't go out in the sun between 10 a.m.-2 p.m. Even if it is overcast, you are still exposed to the sun. If you must be out in the sun, wear a hat and apply your sunscreen as recommended on the bottle. Don't forget to reapply your sunscreen every hour and a half or immediately after swimming.

I am writing to you for help maybe you can help several girls in El Salvador Which their dreams were crushed when an event for Miss Universe was held. This event was corrupt and Sonia Cruz should be Eliminated from the August 23,2010 Event in Las Vegas Nevada. The Winner Sonia Cruz was picked before even starting the event because of her relations with the Mayor of San Salvador “Norman Quijano”. Since when does a Pagent or any other Model Events do they place “The Tall Girls In The Front” ? Never !!!! They are and should always be placed in the back and in size order. When they were interviewed they were also given the biggest opportunity in everything questions being asked and reponseses that should be givin and that was done with the helping hand of “Miss Salvador Universe 2008 Rebeca Moreno” This is not right and should be punished by eliminating them from this event this year and next year only allow judges hand picked at the last minute by the U.S. or by votes from the public. Just as well as Gabriela Molina which was also picked thanks to her family that Sponsored this event. Her Family Business is Rochac & Molina A.K.A. Tribu DDB en El Salvador, which they work with Marketing events T.V. Shows and Commercials. Her mom who is Ana María Rochac, founding member and now President of Tribu DDB in El Salvador. Hmmm??? That is why Gabriela Molina was elected as Miss Mundo…. These Pagents should be overlooked carefully by the Miss Universe Organization next year and should no longer allow TCS to participate in any helping hand of this Pagent in any way ….. Look at the video of the winners you can even see their emotion when they won. Not even a tear came down or a shocked faced of surprize was shown. Thirteen poor girls attended this event and put all their heart and soul into this event and were only used as puppets to make this event look real. These Young Ladies Struggled day and night to try to fullfill a dream that was corrupted and all these girls well know that this was done… Best Regards MLPEREZ058
