Waiting Game

I am unfortunately not in Las Vegas for Miss USA 2009. I'm in my apartment recuperating from foot surgery. I'm sad, but hanging in there. By talking to just about everyone there and waiting anxiously for the new website to go up, I'm able to manage. There's a good crop of contestants this year... who's going to fill Crystle's shoes??? Will it be a blonde or a brunette?? If I was there I could be getting the real dirt and a good feel for all of the contestants.
I got to see Fadil photos last night and they're AMAZING!!! It took a ton of planning and preparation....it paid off! The hair and make-up team as well as Fadil worked it all out!
I can only image all the events going on and the lack of sleep the contestants and crew are getting. Wait, not imagine...I know, I've been there and done that a million shows and am wishing I was doing it now!!!
Check back with me for more inside scoop soon! I'm not in Vegas...but not everything stays there. I have my way of knowing all :)

As a National Pageant director of MISS IRAQ I would like to take this opportunity to wish you well, and I love the new website and I personally feel that Miss UTAH will take it all this year, she is amazing and she will also win MISS UNIVERSE.
I hope that the MUO takes into account our recommendations and suggestions, I would love to see the sashes redefined, the opening number choreographed in the same manner as it was back in the 80's, a parade and carnival like opening is best and what I did with my pageant is that I replaced evening gowns with an annual tribute to fashion from a certain era, for example this year we did a tribute to the 1930's where the girls had hairstyles and gowns depicting that particular era.
This would be a great addition to MISS USA, I also think that MISS TEEN USA should be back on air, would love to see it on MTV. Since the MUO has the resources and your organization can spend more on these pageants in comparison with the Pageants from other countries, I think you should consider replacing regular evening gowns with the ones the girls wore in the glamour fashion shoot, that would be totally amazing and it will leave the audience thrilled for months.
I would also like to see the new crowns and I think the sashes are cool but three different colors should be used for MISS USA, RUBY RED fonts and side ribbons, MISS UNIVERSE blue and MISS TEEN , pink.

Unlike Ahmed, I am quite enjoying the modern feel of the pageants today but I can understand his nostalgia of how things were done in the past. I myself am Iranian and have been watching the Miss Universe Pageant since the 70's and actually have VHS recordings of them.
The one thing that I do miss is the excitement of the "final question" where all finalist receive the "same" question. I also miss the "early interview". FYI I am not a fan of the new Miss Universe crown. Seems very old fashioned.

I havent followed miss universe in the 70's because I was not born by then, so I would have to say 80's with disinterest and 90's is when my interest grew, its like a mini united nations, and a cultural festival, watched some 70's clips on you tube and I have to say that Miss Universe started to become fun in the early 80's like 1984, love the 85,87,88,89,90,92,93,94,95 and 96 pageants and then it started becoming a bit boring.

It would be unfair and a big mistake FOR THE ORGANIZATION OF THE MISS UNIVERSE CROWN NOT ONLY TO THE BEST CANDIDATE because their ancestors were winners.
